Decendant of a long line of paranormal bounty hunters, Lara Leigh Van Helsing was born of an unholy union between a mortal man, James Van Helsing, and a succubus, Kashka, who was created by Aleera, one of the many brides of the infamous Count Vladislaus Dracula. Kashka attempted to seduce the young James in order to draw enough energy to sustain herself. Never did she expect to fall in love with his dangerously dashing ways, and soon gave birth to a beautiful daughter and named her Lara Leigh. In order to hide the child from Dracula she left her with James...never to return again.
Raised by the wealthy Van Helsing family to be a monster huntress, she could never bring herself to kill a vampire. The blood of Dracula runs through her veins and she could feel nothing but empathy for the undead. On the eve of her twenty first birthday the Van Helsing castle was attacked and ravaged by werewolves, killing her father in the battle. Escaping through underground tunnels and caverns, she fled to the woods and watched as her home burned to the ground...vowing revenge.
Torn between two destinys, that of both the hunter and the hunted, she was befriended and taken in by Mandita, leader of the vampire clan Rose of Darkness. She continues to fight alongside vampires, slaying any werewolf that crosses her path...leaving a single long-stemmed, black rose atop their remains.
