There is a dark heart in all of us. It beats with the pain of ten thousand nightmares. The voice in your mind that controls the violence, the anger, and the rage, will take hold of you. That is my voice. The darkness is home to this monster. Living in the shadows and the yellow opium moon that wraps itself around me like a blanket on a cold winter’s night is enough to make this dark man feel at home. I wasn’t always a creature of the night. I wasn’t always a shadow of a shadow. I had a life, a home, and a lover.
A lover I found in the arms of another man one night. Driven with rage I ran into the night. That is where I found her. The one who would turn me was beautiful. She sat perched in a tree outside of my village. Waiting to hunt I assume. A hell bound angel wrapped in leather.
Her eyes caught my attention first. Like cold slivers of ice dancing in the shadows they searched for prey. I stopped dead in my tracks, shivering not from fear, but from October chill. I was entranced by the creature. My heart still racing from anger was enough noise for her to hear. She came down from the darkness of the treetops and walked towards me. She was like a drug, addicting and painful, but trading pain for pleasure was what she offered me that night.
A single bite was all it took. The rush was indescribable. A narcotic fire ran through my blood and into my heart. The rage and anger of my deceitful lover burned behind my eyes. The beautiful vampire Lillious had given me a new life in death. The ashes and pain of an earthly body were cast off. All that was left is hunger.
I sink back into my shadows and head back towards my former loves cottage; a small wooden structure on the edge of town. In the moonlight I see a man leaving through the front door. He adjusts his shirt. My new found senses are on fire. I can hear his foot steps; I can see his every hair wave in the midnight wind. He has no clue what is in store for him. I charge out of the darkness and grab him by the throat. A quick snap of his neck and life leaves his earthly visage. He will not be my first meal, only my first victim. I begin to tear flesh from bone, and toss it in every direction until the figure that once resembled man now resembles nothing. His head I save for my once loved princess. I hold it high as I rise from the ground.
I rise to her bedroom window; there in the moonlight I see her weeping. If I still had a heart it might have felt sorry for this one. I toss her new lovers head in through the window and it lands on her bed. She screams as blood runs down her cursed sheets. I coast into the room and she stands back in horror. I step towards her and corner her. She whispers in the darkness.
“I know why…. Why Jesus wept…” Her last words echo as I sink my teeth into her neck and begin to feed. Every emotion she ever felt; every thought she ever had; now mine. Tears fall as the last breath she will ever breathe falls out into nothingness and her body falls to the floor. Blood drips from my mandible and a fanged smile escapes my lips.
That is how I was reborn into this world of shadows. A gift from a hell bound angel. A new life and eternal passion for pain becomes my burden. I am The Vampire Corvix. I am hell.
