It was in the wee hours of the morning on the dawn of my 18th birthday that I was changed. Not many of us share our day of birth with that of our death and I’ve yet to meet another of my kind that shares those two dates with that of their rebirth. It can take months even years to birth a Vampire, depending on the strength of their maker. I don’t know much about my maker, only that he was an elder of great strength and he died while birthing me. To kill a human and create a Vampire in one night takes an immense amount of energy, skill, and of course a willingness for true death. If a Vampire wants to truly die without the pain of the scorching sun then they do what my maker did. I’ve been told that the circumstances of my birth left me with tremendous power and strength that, over time, can be harnessed and used to achieve greatness.
I’ve seen how others work, how they slowly change their protégés. They teach them about the Seath and the different clans. They teach them what to expect, what’s normal and what’s not. They tell them what’s excepted and what’s not. They teach them how to live, how to survive. I didn’t have that. I had to learn to fend for myself. I didn’t know what a Seath was, or a clan. I didn’t know that there were others like me. It took 50 years to find one of my own. I wasn’t surprised to find that there were werewolves out there. At that point in my life nothing surprised me. But there was a big problem with the Seath. My maker was gone and no one could control me. No one could inflict “the call” on me. So I was kept in a cage for one hundred years, only let out to fight. I learned a lot in those years. I learned how to “harness my power” so to speak. I broke out and fled. I’ve been on the lose for well over 200 years and the werewolf community is well aware of that, if I might say so myself!
