Vampire Aera
Character description
Although my story is but brief for now... more will be revealed later on...
Aera never quite fit in. Although beautiful, she had always stood out as strange and even scary to humans, even before she was turned. Aera always a skinny and pale girl- as goes with the territory when you're albino. Her eyes were of a pale bluish-silver hue and her pure white hair made her seem even more washed out and spirit-like in looks. Her ghostly and fragile appearance was quite contrasted by the dark and strange clothes she wore. People labeled her and called her names like "punk", "emo", or "goth". She loved the way she dressed and found it quite appealing to her tastes, and thus refused to change and conform to the traditional apparel of her peers. As if her strange looks and style of dress were not enough to make her stand out, Aera had always been openly bi. She had grown up without parents, in an orphanage, from which she was released at 18 to live on her own. She had never had a need to fear what her family would think of her and never had any useless religion drilled into her head, and thus saw no reason to see her love of both genders as wrong. She told herself, and others, that if people couldn't accept her for who she really was, she didn’t need their friendship anyway. Aranole was one of the few who could. He accepted her right from the beginning, and quickly became close friends with her, despite the ridicule he received for associating with "the witch girl", as some had called her. He helped her through the toughest of times and was always her shoulder to lean on. He was her best friend for the rest of her human life... and beyond.
Although there is no direct relation, Aranole always was- in every sense of the way- an older brother to Aera. He is the main reason she has existed this long: He had always defended her from bullies and cruel words while growing up with her in the orphanage, Then later on he turned her to save her when she lay dying. He protects her even now, as others of their kind attempt to bring her end.
Now that Aera has become a night walker, her beauty and pale features have only become more defined. Although her eyes are now of crimson blood hue, her pearlescent hair shines with the luminescence of the moon. She is often seen wearing a long black cloak with a hood, to shield her identity-- for many seek her death. Although she is a new fledgling and recently joined her clan, she has shown signs of great power early on. Many high-ranking nosferatu see her as a threat and wish to eliminate her before she reaches her full potential.
In the beginning of her new existence, Aera strongly refused to drink human blood, and instead survived on the weak existence of drinking from animals. The cause of her 'vegetarian' diet (as she calls it) is strange, compared to that of other new fledges. Most of those who stick to an animal diet do so for moral standards-- not wanting to kill humans. Aera's cause is slightly different, and perhaps a bit strange.
Before Aera had been turned, she had always believed in vampires, and longed to become one herself- despite the teasing and ridicule she received from many. She often wrote and read many stories of them and studied deeply into their nature. While researching some of the ancient lore on vampires, she became very knowledgeable on their many strengths and weaknesses. The logic behind her refusal to drink human blood goes against the common understanding of her people. Most believe that if your drink more blood you get stronger. This is the main thing that has kept her deep reservoir of power in check and prevents her true strength to emerge. Aera does acknowledge this as true, but she also believes that denying herself the taste for as long as she can in the beginning years, will make her significantly stronger and more able to tolerate pain. Once she does indulge in the fragrant delight of human blood, and the new power courses through her veins, who knows how truly powerful she will become.
For now she will fight her thirst... yet her reasons for resisting in addition to the strength they sense in her only makes others fear her even more. Aera knows that once she allows herself to change her diet, the attempts to destroy her will multiply increasingly. Yet, slowly, the bloodlust is starting to take over. Aera knows its only a matter of time before she gives in to her hunger. And, obviously, she has plenty of time...
